To Referring Veterinarians:
On behalf of all the doctors and staff here at Animal Medical and Dental Group we would like to express our appreciation for your support. We have served clients far and wide over the years and thanks to you - the referring doctors - we continue to strive to improve our dental care and develop new treatments for our patients.
It is with great pleasure that we announce added days, expanded services, new equipment and advanced technologies at Animal Medical and Dental Group. We use a 5X Zeiss magnification Loupe. The magnification it provides opens up a whole new world of quality and care. Pathologies can be detected that would have been missed even with 3.25X magnification loupes. We use the Zeiss in oral surgeries, crown amputations for feline resorption, crowns, root canals, composites and much more. Our hope is that eventually all dentists and veterinary dentists will use them. We also use 2.5X to 3.25X magnification when ultrasonically scaling teeth with final inspection at 5X (it is amazing what the naked eye cannot see). Our new ultrasonic scalers have headlights which aids in calculus discovery and removal, especially at 5X magnification upon final inspection.
We have been using new guided tissue regeneration products for two years that give extraordinary results with several millimeters of tissue and bone growth. We now have the ability to save some teeth with 100% bone loss.
We are able to do dental implants on canines and incisors in dogs. Our treatment protocol for feline stomatitis, (GVS) continues to be more effective and is done with cyclosporine for immunoregulation, occasional use of CO2 laser and ultrasonic scaling coupled with antibiotic combination therapy to disrupt bacterial biofilms. Antibiotic therapy for oral infections (especially GVS) is minimally helpful at best without physical disruption of bacterial biofilms and very helpful when used in conjunction with ultrasonic scaling. Even a Q-tip (our secret weapon) laced with lidocaine gel does wonders to disrupt bacterial biofilms.
A practical short course and on-site training is available with emphasis on simple, efficient veterinary dentistry. We also have a service that includes equipment purchase, designing a dental suite, product recommendations and case and x-ray interpretation.
We welcome your input and encourage you to share any ideas that might help us provide you with excellent care and better service. Please call Dr. Nielsen for in-depth discussion of these services.
Respectfully,
David B. Nielsen, DVM Jennifer Lynn, DVM Ken Lyon, DVM, ACVD
